The dixie home page says that free shopping carts and blogging platforms are available with every account. I can't find any info about either in direct admin. Can someone point me to info on how to setup/use them?

Check the Installatron Script Installer (near the bottom of the main DA page). There's a ton of stuff in there ready to be installed, including commerce and blogging software.
